IT, Management and Innovation

This programme addresses students with either a business or organisational administration background who want to increase their competence in exploiting IT for business, organisational or industrial innovation, or students with a technology background who want to increase their competence in entrepreneurship and innovation. The programme features three key areas: entrepreneurial IT; the use of IT in business, organisational and industrial innovation; and the evaluation of IT investments.

The overall purpose is to contribute to  educating a new generation of researchers and practitioners who want to understand  the value of IT, how to effectively implement and  manage  innovative IT-based products and services in the global virtual economy, and how to capture the effects of  IT.

The programme  develops skills in:

  • Exploiting opportunities created by Information Technology for Business, Organisational and Industrial Innovations for both private and public organisations (e.g. healthcare,)
  • Designing and managing Enterprise Architectures
  • Identifying and evaluating the contribution of Information Technology to the development of innovative IT-based product and services
  • Understanding Information Logistics and its relationship to profitability, efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Understanding and managing Information Requirements for organisations, business and industries
  • Understanding, managing and controlling IT Risks

 
Leaders of today, both for private and public organisations, must have strong analytical and critical thinking skills to thrive in a competitive global environment, skills which are targeted in this programme.

After successfully completing the programme, students will have acquired good analytical skills and the
ability to think strategically in terms of both business and technology and be qualified to work in international and national companies.

Requirements:
The applicant must hold the minimum of a bachelors degree (i.e the equivalent of 180 credits at an accredited university) with at least 60 credits in informatics, business administration, computer science, computer engineering, information engineering, or equivalent.
