Human Rights in International Development Work 7,5 Credits
The course presents Human Rights from an interdisciplinary, global and local perspective. Human Rights are approached from an historical, political, sociological and geographical perspective to highlight how Human Rights has developed and how Human Rights are discussed on the international and national arena.Course Contents
- The concept human rights in a historic perspective and in current international contexts
- The international legal system
- A right-based approach versus a need-based approach in international cooperation
- Human rights and perspectives on development, democracy and economic growth
Prerequisites
General entrance requirements.Fluency in English equivalent to at least a 575 (paper-based scale) or 90 (internet-based scale) TOEFL score. IELTS: with an overall band score of 6.5 and no part under 5.5.
Competency in Swedish language is not required.
