Distance services

The University Library has developed a variety of services to allow distance students offsite access to the library. Distance students are those attending a distance course or a regionally located education given by Jönköping University and living outside dialling code 036.

Apply for a library card

You can apply for a library card using this form. When your application is approved you will get an e-mail containing your library card number.

Login to My loans to see your loans and reservations.

Change address

Your address is automatically synchronized with Ladok. In order to change the address, use Ladok's web services.

Contact the library if you have forgotten your PIN.

Service for distance students

As a distance student, you can order books from our collection and they will be sent to your home free of charge. We can also arrange loans from other libraries through interlibrary loan and send those to your home as well. If you live outside the Nordic countries and would like to borrow books, please contact the University Library first.

A large selection of the library's licensed databases can be reached from off campus via our proxy server with your computer account (issued by the school you are studying at).

If you need assistance while using the library's off campus services, you can use our electronic reference service Ask the Library and get real time help. The library also offers a variety of web based subject guides.

Borrowing books from the University Library

As a distance student at Jönköping University you can borrow books from our collections and have them sent to your home free of charge. We can also send you copies of articles from our journal holdings.

You apply for a library card using this form. Don't forget to read the loan regulations also. Once you have your library card you can order books directly in the library catalog. The exception is books that are part of the course book collection and reference books, which are not available for home use.

It is your responsibility to make sure the books are returned to us. If you return them to one of the public libraries in Jönköping County they will be sent back to the University Library free of charge. Renewals can be made through My loans.

Article copies from the University Library

As a distance student at Jönköping University you can order copies of articles from print journals that are available at the University Library by using the form below. It costs 40 SEK per article and the copies are yours to keep. Full text articles found in our article databases are free of charge.

Interlibrary loans for distance students

If you are a distance student at Jönköping University you can request interlibrary loans from other libraries in and outside of Sweden.

Count on it taking 5-7 days to receive an interlibrary loan. The loan period and other conditions are decided by the lending library. We send the interlibrary loaned material free of charge to your home address. A receipt is included with book loans and you confirm by e-mail that you have received the book. You are responsible for returning the book to the Unversity Library. Please, note that you can not return interlibrary loans at your municipal library. Loans from libraries in Sweden, Norway and Denmark are free of charge. Loans from other countries cost 120 SEK.

Article copies that we order from other libraries are subject to a charge at the price of 40 SEK per article. The copies are sent to you, together with a payment form.
