Internationalization

Jönköping University has a genuinely international orientation and promotes a range of innovative initiatives to create an even more enriching environment for students and researchers from all over the world.

The campus is strongly international in its orientation. Altogether there are some 1,300 international students in Jönköping and a host of foreign researchers. Jönköping University has an extensive exchange programme with some 350 partner universities around the world and is one of the leading universities in Sweden in the scope of its international student exchange.

Jönköping University offers several courses and study programmes conducted in English at all three levels: Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral.

Jönköping International Business School has the highest number of internationalized activities among all academic institutions in Sweden. Nearly all study programmes are conducted in English, the network of partner universities is global, and strategic collaboration with entrepreneurial partners in other countries includes research projects, study programmes and other development projects.

The School of Education and Communication has the most internationalized teacher training programme in Sweden and develops international research within the teaching as well as media and communication disciplines. International collaboration supports key projects for more innovative activities, new knowledge and new perspectives on teaching and communication.

The School of Engineering has developed the capacity to collaborate with small- and medium-sized enterprises and has also established a wide network of international collaborative partners for student exchange and technical research. The school is one of the leading research environments within the field of Materials and Manufacturing Technology in Europe.

Globally, the health sector faces the highest demand for change and the delivery of more demanding services. The School of Health Sciences has developed international collaboration within education and research that supports the school's focus on lifelong health and care.

High-priority relations with a limited set of special partner institutions allow for deep integration of student exchange, research collaboration and joint activities in other kinds of international collaboration, as in the context of bilateral or multilateral commercial, cultural or policy work. Representatives of Jönköping University also take a prominent role in various high-level international gatherings where concrete collaborative international projects are launched.

Jönköping University is engaged in a range of international research activities in collaboration with various partner institutions around the world. Some are part of the European framework programmes. Professors of Jönköping University are actively involved and responsible for activities under way in organizations such as, for instance: the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD); the Asia-European Meeting (ASEM); the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD); the International Association of Science Parks (IASP); the European Business & Innovation Centre Network (EBN); and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
