Tuition and Application Fees

Students who are citizens of countries outside the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland are required to pay application and tuition fees in Sweden.

Students who are required to pay tuition fees:

  • Fees are applicable to students from outside of the EU/EEA
  • Fees apply to undergraduate and graduate courses and programmes (i.e. Bachelor's and Master's level courses and programmes).

Students who are not required pay tuition fees:

  • Students from within the EU/EEA are not charged fees.
  • Exchange students (from all countries) are not charged tuition fees.
  • Students who started studying before fees were introduced, are not expected to pay fees. For example, if you began a two-year programme in 2010, you will be able to complete your studies without paying fees.

There are a few exceptions and additions to these general rules.

Application period

The application is open 17 October to 16 January 2012 through University Admissions.

Payment

The application fee must be paid when the application is submitted (please follow the Instructions for Application). Tuition fees are paid to the university directly. The payment is divided into equal installments; one payment per semester. The first installment of tuition fee is paid before the application for a residency permit can be approved.

In Sweden, all offers of admission are considered preliminary until the student has paid the first installment of his or her tuition fee. Read more at universityadminissions.se
