Database Systems and Trends 6 Credits
Course Contents
The course aim to provide students with a thorough understanding of the concepts for the relational database model, its possibilities and limitations. It will also give insight to other kinds of database systems such as data warehouses and distributed database systems.The course include the following subjects:
- The relational model and relational query languages
- Normalization theory
- Design principles for distributed databases
- Query optimization for distributed databases
- Transaction management for distributed databases
- Architecture- and design principles for data warehouses
Prerequisites
Passed courses 180 credits in first cycle, at least 90 credits within the major subject Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering (with relevant courses in Computer Engineering), and 21 credits Mathematics. In addition, completed course Software Engineering Methods, 6 credits and English Language requirements corresponding to English A in the Swedish upper secondary schoolLevel of Education: Master A1F
