Research

The School of Health Sciences enjoys the standing of a leading school nationally in part because of its top-quality research. The school is one of the academic environments for healthcare research in Sweden that has published extensively in international journals of renown. The school´s research is also cited often.
The school bridges research and the professions with the aim of improving health and welfare in society. Researchers and professors disseminate knowledge and research results at national and international scientific conferences.

Research areas

Research focuses on three prominent research areas:

  • Ageing - Living Conditions and Health Advanced research in gerontology. The knowledge is important for understanding ageing and living conditions in old age, as well as for improvement of care for older persons.
  • Quality Improvements, Innovations and Leadership Systematic quality studies of methods for applying theoretical findings to everyday healthcare and social work.
  • CHILD Studies in the everyday functioning of children, youth and young adults who need personal assistance. Research leads to improved mapping, descriptions and action plans for these people.

Research school

Post-doc education at the Jönköping Research School of Health and Welfare has attracted increasing numbers of doctoral students to its well-organized educational programmes. Subjects offered include Disability Science, Gerontology, Nursing Science, Occupational Therapy, Oral Health Science, Social Work and Quality Improvement and Leadership in Health and Welfare. The research school provides advanced studies of subjects in an interdisciplinary setting and is acclaimed for its international focus and networking in the practice of the subject areas.
