Monika Wilinska

Monika Wilinska obtained her MSc in Social Pedagogy from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Poland, in April 2006. During a five-year period in the course of her studies she was a member of student research group. In January 2005 she came to Jönköping as an exchange student to take part in the Social Work Programme at the School of Health Sciences. Upon the completion of the programme in June 2005, she was already engaged in the research that eventually became an inspiration for the cross-national research carried out within her dissertation. In fall 2006, Monika Wilinska was enrolled in the International Graduate Programme at Stockholm University. In January 2007 she became a postgraduate student within the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Work at Jönköping University.
Monika Wilinska maintains a cross-cultural perspective within her research direction. Her current research interests revolve around the concept of quality of life, in particular its social dimensions such as social inclusion\exclusion, social cohesion, empowerment and socio-economic security as well as community work in relation to elderly people. Her work aims at reinforcing the significance of communitariansim within social work and its role in enhancing social and environmental setting of human existence.
