The School of Education and Communication (HLK) conducts research and offers undergraduate and graduate programmes and a PhD programme in education and communication.

Research at the School of Education and Communication has grown incrementally since the postgraduate school was founded in 2002 and is defined by four research areas.
The postgraduate education at School of Education and Communication started in 2002 and currently involves about 35 research students. The Doctoral Programme focuses on Educational theory and practice, Media and Communication studies and Disability studies.
The School of Education and Communciation offers an international study environment. We collaborate in research and have faculty and student exchange with our partner universities throughout the world.
The School of Education and Communication participates in several international networks within education and research, for example two Atlantis consortia, between the European Union and the United States.
The School of Education and Communication maintains many contacts with the surrounding society and coordinates with local society within several different areas. An important element in our programmes is on-site training where our students get the opportunity to try out their future profession.
Another example of cooperation is PULS - Pedagogic Development Centre - Education in Joint Action. PULS is a meeting place between the School of Education and Communication, municipalities and industries for the exchange of experiences and mutual skills enhancement.
The School of Education and Communication also has a large number of assignment projects that embrace further education and skills enhancement for staff within child care, schools, public administration and industries.

The School of Education and Communication has been environmentally certified since February 2006.
