MLS is a research platform gathering researchers, teachers and students interested in didactic aspects of Media, Literature and Language.
Among our prime objectives are questions such as:
We are also concerned with identifying and analysing genres or 'text types' with the aim of addressing a connected issue, viz. How do we approach the close relationship between media development and language development in an educational context?
In formal as well as informal situations of learning, the use of different media affects the didactic conditions of learning a language. The aim of the platform is to 1) identify these conditions and 2) investigate how students and pupils use language and what characterises their language development. We are also interested in the teaching methods adopted by teachers to suit existing conditions. It is our hope that the results of our research will contribute to the present state of knowledge with regard to how languages are best taught in elementary and secondary school as well as at university level.
The field of Literature and Languages encompasses modern 'foreign' languages like Chinese, English, French, German and Spanish, but also Swedish and Literature Studies. The field of Media is made up of Media and Communication Studies. By gathering researchers from all these fields, we hope to learn more and spread knowledge about connections between media use and the teaching of languages and literature on different levels.
