Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) is one of four schools within Jönköping University. Jönköping University is organised as a foundation that conducts research and offers education on bachelor, master, doctoral and executive levels.
JIBS is managed by an international board and a management team consisting of a Managing Director and Dean, Head of Administration, three Associate Deans with responsibility for the core processes, and the Department Heads.
To further strengthen the development of JIBS, a Business Advisory Council has been established to guide and advice in any contacts with business and society.
The faculty of JIBS is organised in departments; Accounting and Commercial Law, Economics, Finance & Statistics, ESOL (Entrepreneurship, Strategy, Organization and Leadership), Marketing and Logistics (these two are formed from the old department EMM) and Informatics.
Research is conducted through centres and institutes at JIBS and since the start in 1994 many different research environments have been established, a majority of which has a strong international connection. Our research is recognized as world-class. JIBS ranks ninth globally and third in Europe in entrepreneurship research, and fourth globally and first in Europe in family business research. Our centres and institutes engage people from our different departments as well as external affiliates.
Jönköping University is comprised of five companies of which JIBS is one. Three of the other companies of education and research are; the School of Engineering, the School of Education and Communication and the School of Health Science.
The fifth company is the University Services, responsible for local supplies, the joint library and the management and services to the Foundation and the four schools.
The foundation is led by the Foundation Board. The Chairman of the Foundation Board is appointed by the Swedish state.
Unlike the state-owned universities and university colleges, Jönköping University works through agreements with the Swedish state which entail a greater freedom of movement. Stockholm School of Economics, Chalmer's University of Technology and Jönköping University Foundation are together the three sole foundations on academic level in Sweden.
