CESIS (Centre of Excellence for Science and Innovation Studies) is a research centre with the mission to organise and carry out studies of innovation systems, focusing specifically on Sweden.
The ambition is to provide a deeper understanding of the interdependencies between innovations and economic development. Special attention is paid to how R&D influences economic growth, and to develop models and methods designed to examine such influences. In this endeavour CESIS strives to become a hub for collaboration between international research centres.
KTH CESIS was established as a research centre in 2004, with the mission to organise and carry out studies of innovation systems with a specific focus on Sweden. CESIS is funded by the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems (VINNOVA), KTH and JIBS.
The centre is an organised collaboration between departments at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) and Swedish Institute for Studies in Education and Research (SISTER). CESIS is administered as an independent part of the School of Architecture and the Built Environment (ABE) at KTH.
