Marketing and Logistics

The department of Marketing and Logistics was created in late spring of 2010 as part of a renewal process at the Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) where the successful and large department of Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Management was re-organized into two separate departments (ESOL and Marketing & Logistics).

Marketing and Logistics consist of 25 researchers and teachers within the areas Business Logistics, Economic Geography, Innovation, Marketing and Supply Chain Management.

A great deal of the research in economic geography relates to the area of economic milieu and change with studies focusing on economic clusters and inter-firm networks.

The research in marketing has since the start of JIBS been focused on industrial markets with studies on procurement, product development and interaction between parties in the value chain. Another ongoing research project, financed by Vinnova, is emphasizing Open Innovation and collaboration between customers and producers. A research interest is that of entrepreneurship and celebrities. Research is also ongoing regarding brand personalities, prosumption and value formation. The department is presently expanding its research efforts also in the fields of consumer marketing and retailing. And during its present first year of activities a creative discussion of new research tasks and questions in also areas of commercialization, business and technological renewal will be performed.

The research on innovation is growing and is focused both on internal innovation processes, as well as more market-related, technological and geographical perspectives on innovation.
