Lucy Küng

Professor in Media Management

Lucy Küng holds a Phd and habilitation from the University of St. Gallen where she was Director of the Competence Centre for the Media and Communication Industries, an international research consortium/think tank examining strategic, management and organisational challenges facing the media industry, with partner companies including the BBC, Swiss Broadcasting Corporation, Discovery Networks, and von Holtzbrinck. She is currently Executive Board Member of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG-SSR-idée Suisse) and President of the European Media Management Association. Between 1988 and 1992 she was Publishing Director at Random House UK, London.

Lucy Küng's research focuses on the criteria that lead to sustained superior performance in the media and creative industries.  Areas of special interest are strategy, leadership, culture and creativity. She is the author of  'Strategic Management in the Media: From Theory to Practice', which won the AEJMC Media Management and Economics Division book prize for 2009, and of 'Inside the BBC and CNN: Managing Media Organisations', as well as numerous academic articles and case studies.

Lucy Küng has designed and delivered MA and Executive MBA courses in Media Management at the University of St. Gallen, as well as Advanced Leadership Programmes for the UK Creative and Cultural Industries Initiative.
