As JIBS will move towards a performance-based system for allocating research funding to departments, continuous development of research skills gains more and more importance.
The JIBS Research Faculty Development Programme aims at assisting researchers in this regard. The main purpose of these activities is to help JIBS scholars in improving their research skills and also to help them to access external research as well as to publish.
- JIBS Lunch Seminars are monthly one-hour information seminars on research related topics. Topics include, for example, research funding and application writing, academic career planning, developing an academic portfolio, writing up research results, communicating research to society and other stakeholders. If you have ideas for a lunch seminar, please contact Susanne Hansson. Don't forget to bring your lunch!
- JIBS Writing Labs take place twice a year. The writing lab is a one-day workshop, where you can submit up to 2 papers, receive comments from two reviewers without having to present your paper where a 30 minutes discussion will be devoted to each of your paper — very enjoyable. The aim is to help taking existing paper drafts, conference papers, manuscripts which have been rejected or any other paper you never managed to edit into an article, to the next level and possibly submit them to suitable journals. You will also learn about the research of your peers and listen to their experiences in publishing as well as acquire review skills. Small group sessions will be combined with a plenary session on general topics of academic writing and publishing.
- JIBS Working Papers serve to disseminate (interim) research results prior to journal or book publication in order to encourage academic debate and the exchange of ideas. The Associate Dean of Research is the responsible editor. Papers submitted are reviewed by a small editorial board. More information, also on published papers, is to be found here.
