Laila defended her doctoral thesis, "Unfree to develop: a comparative study of Kuria and Ukerewe under colonial rule: Tanzania 1850-1961", in 2003 at Gothenburg University.

Background

Laila, born 1965, is a substitute Senior Lecturer in history at the School of Education and Communication since 2009. She is also teaching at teacher education and in history at Gothenburg University, which she has done since 2004. Laila has a Master of Education for the Upper Secondary School in history from Gothenburg University.
