Movin Sequeira

Lecturer

Movin Sequeira (M.Sc in Production Systems) is a doctoral student in the subject area of Production Systems. His research interest is in the area of production location decisions. He is studying 'reshoring decisions', by which manufacturing firms decide to move back production to the country of origin. Over the last few years, more and more companies have taken reshoring decisions, especially in high-cost countries like Sweden. There is a need to increase understanding of the reshoring phenomena and investigate decision support tools for these decisions.

Some of the reasons for this reshoring are increasing costs in offshore countries and the requirement to have short delivery lead-times and high flexibility. Movin is interested in studying the criteria that are considered in reshoring of manufacturing, and how these criteria can be modeled into a decision support system for digital and automatic decisions.
